The Centre's effective capacity building process has enables successful replication of Micro Small Enterprise Development strategy in more than 55 under developed and developing countries of Asia, Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific region with inclusion of Gender perspective in every development effort right from planning to implementation.
Through persistent efforts, ICECD has been successful in initiating and implementing designed programmes specially for women, men and youth of rural, urban and tribal areas, NGO capability building and institutionalising socio-economic development.
The organisational capability building process within, and outside the country has enabled replication of similar developmental efforts for promoting and
supporting women, men and youth, particularly the
disadvantaged groups, in many countries. With the qualitative outputs, the impact of ICECD's work is felt at various levels.
Sustainability and Success of Small Enterprises
Over 65% ICECD trained small and micro enterprises have attained self-sustainability. The entrepreneurs are independently managing their enterprise, 89.2% of whom expand and grow substantially. Their investments range from Rs. 50,000/- to Rs. 50,00,000/- which include projects dealing in products like voltmeter, plastics, packaging, garments and hosiery, stapler pins, computers, u-form etc.
Specialised Programmes for Training of Trainers for Women Entrepreneurship
Employment generation and self-employment/entrepreneurship development amongst women were perceived as a dire need in India as well as many countries. Women have to be facilitated in the areas, like literacy, education, economical progress and health. A number of efforts have been made to develop the economically, but these have remained restricted to extension of welfare measures, credit and technical support. This was because the lack of capability to educate, train and develop women for enterprise/business development. Considering this need, the Centre offers training and developmental programmes for Trainers and Facilitators of GOs/NGOs to replicate women entrepreneurship in their own countries.
